Big Dog Lacrosse
Jim Davis sought help from SCORE in developing a business plan for Big Dog Lacrosse. His for-profit business centers on youth sports programming designed to build both athletic skills and character for youngsters in grades 1-12. His business began with 30 children in 2009 and now serves 285 youths. In 2011 Jim and his wife Jennifer organized the North Coast Lacrosse Tournament that brought 10,000 kids and their families to Stark County for two days. Big Dog Lacrosse also provides employment for area college students who serve as instructors and coaches.
SCORE client earns national recognition
In 2011 the Canton Regional SCORE Chapter recognized Jim Davis of Big Dog Lacrosse as one of its success stories. Recently Jim was recognized nationally by Sam's Club as part of its 2012 Sam's Club Holiday Program that honored 102 small business owners. For Jim that means an all-expense paid trip to Dallas, Texas to participate in a special educational program for small businesses. He also receives a $1,000 Sam's Club gift card to purchase supplies or equipment needed to grow his business - a business that emphasizes organizing youth lacrosse tournaments that bring thousands of players and parents to Canton and that provides employment opportunities for area college students.
